I overslept. I awoke at 9am because the bed was so comfy. But no matter, I decided my first full day in Cambodia would be at the Angkor National Museum so as to put my visit to Angkor Wat temple into some kind of historical context.
The previous night I had ventured to the nearest supermarket for alcohol provisions, which is an 8 minute walk, and every over minute was accosted by Tuk-Tuk drivers. It was a warm evening, but not too humid. For my trip to the museum however I decided that wheels were better than feet… except that this time I could find an Tuk-Tuk and as it was overcast and coolish I walked instead. I managed to miss the thunder storm which happened while I was in the building, and caused the power to cut out temporarily.
The museum is quite large and has air-conditioning, but wasn’t that busy (it was midweek) in fact it was quite quiet which is ideal for taking photos. It’s on 2 floors, and you start on the 1st floor and make your way to the ground floor via the coffee shop for a nice sit down and an Iced coffee. Other beverages are also available.
